Sassy & Crafty- Ready Raccoon Card

Hello Everyone! I don’t believe I’m alone in saying this, but I just find raccoons to be so dang cute! Mind you, I always keep a considerable distance from them, but if I see them walking around outside I just can’t help but get all excited (you know, as long as they aren’t tearing up my trash).

So that even makes me more excited to be sharing a project today using the new Ready Raccoon set by Sassy & Crafty, part of their September Release!

This 4″ x 8″ set comes with a handful of super cute “sketch” style raccoons with some really fun sentiments. When I was looking over this set for the first time, I was really drawn to the superhero raccoon standing on the building ledge. So I knew I wanted to work with him!

I masked my stamp so I didn’t include the building edge, colored him up with some Copic Markers (I used mostly E40’s for the body and R30’s for the cape), fussy cut him out and set him aside.

Next, taking a piece of Bristol Smooth Cardstock, I chose a Distress Oxide Blend to make a really beautiful sunset inspired ombré. From top to bottom, I used: Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves, Fired Brick, Ripe Persimmon & Mustard Seed. I spritzed this panel with some water, let it dry entirely, and then splattered it with some metallic water color, allowing it to fully dry again.

I then took a cityscape die from my stash, and cut out the shape using just black cardstock because I wanted it to look like a silhouette. I adhered my cityscape to the bottom of my sunset panel, and trimmed the panel down to 4.125″ x 5.375″, my go-to dimensions for an A2-panel when I want to frame it. I adhered this layer to an A2-sized piece of black cardstock to get that said frame look.

For the sentiment, I used “Ready Raccoon” and stamped it on a piece of white cardstock in black ink, trimming it down to a thin strip that was 4.25″ in length. I lightly ink-blended the edges with Catherine Pooler Sweet Sixteen Ink to give it a soft purple look. I framed the sentiment strip with black cardstock, adhered my superhero raccoon directly to the strip, covered the back with foam tape, and adhered it to the bottom of my card.

To finish this card off, I adhered some Crystal Stars Sparkletz and Sunset Shimmerz for embellishment, and adhered this completed panel to an A2-sized card base!
