Kindred Stamps July Release: Wizards Apprentice

Hello friends! It’s almost the end of July, which means that it’s time for the Kindred Stamps July Release! I had the chance to work with the new 4″ x 6″ stamp set Wizard’s Apprentice, along with the brand new Celestial Stencil! This set comes with (4) characters, a sparkle image stamp, along with a handful of sentiments that are perfect for birthdays, encouragement, and even for your special someone!

I also have something extra special to share with you too! Head on over to my YouTube channel where I recorded a video where I color up each of the 4 images in the Wizard’s Apprentice stamp set, and provide a list of all the Copic Marker Colors that I use!

I created (4) cards with the Wizard’s Apprentice set, so let’s get to the details!

Kindred Stamps Products Used:
Wizard’s Apprentice Stamp Set
Celestial Stencil
Emotional Paper Pack
Snowfall Embossing Powder
Embossing Ink Pad

Other Key Products Used:
Copic Markers
Distress Inks: Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean & Prize Ribbon
Nested Arch Dies
Brilliant Blue Glitz Glitter Gel
Winter Glitter Paper
Rainbow Glitter Paper
Colored Cardstock
Dotted Adhesive Roller
Liquid Adhesive
Foam Tape

For my 1st Wizard’s Apprentice project, I created an all-blue themed card using the Wizard image. I used a combination of some patterned paper from the Emotional Paper Pack, along with some different glitter papers to give my background some glitz.

The focal part of my project is an arched panel I created by blending some Distress Inks and then using the Celestial Stencil over top with Brilliant Blue Glitz Glitter Gel! I just love the effect of using this awesome new stencil with a glitter paste!

Tip: Check if you own any water reactive inks, and then use that to your advantage when creating! I like to splatter water onto water-reactive ink-blended background because I’m able to get bleached marks on my card!

Kindred Stamps Products Used:
Wizard’s Apprentice Stamp Set
Celestial Stencil
Castle Craft Die
Tree Scene Craft Die
Snowfall Embossing Powder
Embossing Ink Pad

Other Key Products Used:
Copic Markers
Distress Oxide Inks: Abandoned Coral, Lumberjack Plaid, Aged Mahogany, & Vintage Photo
Distress Inks: Candied Apple, Lumberjack Plaid, Vintage Photo & Ground Espresso
White Linen Ink Spray
Colored Cardstock
Liquid Adhesive
Foam Tape

To create my 2nd card using the Wizard’s Apprentice set, I used the Wizard’s Apprentice who is pulling his sword out from the stone. I used the Castle dies in combination with the Forest Scene die to create a bit of a scene card. I also wanted this card to have a wintery feel to it, so I splattered White Linen Ink Spray over my card (before placing my image and sentiment). This gave the illusion of falling snow!

Also, I did use the Celestial stencil on my scene’s sky for a little extra detail. I love using stencils to add a little extra background details to my project!

Tip: A fun way to create a wintery scene card is by splattering white paint or ink over your scene to give it a snowy effect! I usually recommend to NOT splatter over images that you’ve colored up, as splatters are unpredictable and you don’t want it to mess up your hard work!

Kindred Stamps Products Used:

Other Key Products Used:

Distress Inks: Spun Sugar, Kitsch Flamingo, Festive Berries, Shaded Lilac & Dusty Concord
Wild Lilac Glitz Glitter Gel
Bubblegum Glitz Glitter Gel
Colored Cardstock

Foam Tape

For my 3rd Wizard’s Apprentice project, I used the image of the Magical Mistress to help create a center fold card with this character as the focus! I used the Celestial stencil to create a glitzy background to my card, but also used the Swirly Bits stencil with Bubblegum Glitz Glitter Gel for some contrast to my Celestial background.

Tip: A lot of times when I am stumped for a color palette, I like to use the colors from the image that I’ve colored up! For example, all the colors in the background elements of this card are also colors you can find on the Magical Mistress’s clothing!

Kindred Stamps Products Used:

Distress Oxide Inks: Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner & Black Soot
Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain

Liquid Adhesive
Foam Tape

For my final card using the Wizard’s Apprentice stamp set, I used the owl image to create a forest scene card using the “owl always be there for you” sentiment! I used a combination of the Bare Tree dies, Forest Border die, and Grass Border die to make my card look like a forest at night!

I used the Celestial stencil once again to add some details into my night sky, which I then splattered with Brushed Pewter Distress Spray Stain to look like silvery stars!

Tip: While I love my inks, I also find a lot of use for ink sprays too! While you can get fun mixed media effects by spraying up your backgrounds, you can also use them in similar ways you would use ink, where you can splatter them onto your card with a paint brush!

And there you have it! My 4 cards using the Wizard’s Apprentice stamp set!

  1. Hello! I spotted this quartet of cards while checking at Pink and Main’s design team pages. These cards caught my attention because I’m the owner (since last November) of TFATU or The Fairy and The Unicorn challenge blog. We do monthly competitions with anything goes fantasy topics which includes witches, wizards, fairy tale characters, gnomes, angels, trolls, Bigfoot, etc. Would love to see your creative endeavors shared over there. August’s competition will start on August 5-31st. –owner Becca S
