Crafty Festival Blog Hop: Same Sex Wedding Card

Hey everybody! I’m back today with another edition of the Crafty Festival: Spring Celebrations Blog Hop! Today we are celebrating Graduation, Babies and Weddings!

So this hop, I started how I always do. Thumbing through my stamp stash for the first set that sparks a great idea. And this time, I stumbled across the Full of Pride set by Kindred Stamps and had an instant idea for a wedding card!

First, I wanted to make a rainbow sentiment banner using the Abstract Splatter Die from Stamp Anniething. I used the following Distress Oxide colors to blend up my rainbow banner (left to right): Candied Apple, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Mermaid Lagoon & Wilted Violet. I spritzed my banner with some water to give it a nice distressed look and to blend the colors together a little more.

Next, I took the sentiment “Once Upon a Time” from the Full of Pride set and heat embossed it onto my banner with white powder. I also adhered a dark gray thin banner to the back, just to frame the thinnest areas of the banner.

I wanted my rainbow banner to really contrast against the background, so i decided to make my background gray. I took a 4.125″ x 5.375″ piece of white cardstock and placed the Puzzle Box stencil by The Rabbit Hole Designs and ink blended Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink over it with my Picket Fence Studios Blending Brushes. Once I removed my stencil, I used a Black Soot Distress Oxide Re-Inker and splattered specks onto my card. I also splattered some gray sparkle liquid as well. Once dry, I adhered this panel to a piece of black cardstock. I also adhered some flat back beads to this as well for some depth. I also took a white Gelly Roll pen and added a “…” after the sentiment.

Usually this is where I’m done, however I wanted to add a little bit more to make this card special, and really bring this wedding theme through. I took my Full of Pride set and took the sentiments “Two Men” and “Fell in Love” and stamped them inside my card in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.

And that’s how I made my card!
