Kindred Stamps April Release- You’ve Got Style

Before we jump into today’s project, I wanted to let you know that I sometimes use affiliate links to share my favorite products. Don’t worry, these links won’t cost you a dime – they’re just little crafty helpers behind the scenes that help support me if you use them to make a purchase! Let’s dive into today’s creative journey together!

Hello friends, and happy Kindred Stamps April Release Week! Today, I am sharing the brand new You’ve Got Style 2″ x 3″ stamp set hitting the Kindred Stamps Website on Friday! This set features a young male pop star in a very fashionable outfit ready to take center stage on your next project!

I created (2) cards featuring this crooner, so let’s rock out with some of the details!

Kindred Stamps Products Used:
You’ve Got Style Stamp Set
Card Basics Die Set
Stitched Alpha Die Set
Clear Embossing Powder
Embossing Ink Pad

Other Key Products Used:
Copic Markers
Distress Oxide Inks: Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy, Worn Lipstick, Hickory Smoke & Black Soot
Liquid White Snowflake Paper Splatter Watercolor
Mixed Metals Glitter Paper
Clear Iridescent Embellishments

For my first You’ve Got Style project, I wanted to TRULY make this singer feel like a star. I adore that the Card Basics Die Set includes 3 star dies, and I love that you can stack them to get some fun cut out effects rather than just solid stars! I die cut out a bunch of stars from white paper and black glitter paper to place all over the project.

I wanted to pay around with the colors of the singer’s outfit, and decided that since he was wearing pink, I wanted to utilize a similar color, but not identical so it didn’t get overly matchy. I decided to go with a peach-ish pink color by combining Tattered Rose, Saltwater Taffy and Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide Inks, and it really served as a great color to allow those black and white stars to pop!

One tip that I like to talk about is a way to utilize alpha dies without the need to get too innovative. I often like to use a sentiment already included in the stamp set, and mask it so that one of the words are omitted. I will then use alpha dies to cut out the missing word, and then play around with layouts to figure out how to combine them together! You can see that in this card as I die cut the word “style” with the Stitched Alpha Dies, and combined it with the sentiment “Celebrate in style” (of course, not stamping out the last word).

For my 2nd and final You’ve Got Style card, I decided to be inspired by watermelon! I used the circle dies included in the Card Basics Die Set from pink and green cardstock, and then used Distress Oxide Inks to blend them up! I also splattered the pink panels with Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink and Liquid White Snowflake Paper Splatter Watercolor.

Sometimes, I really don’t have the exact die shape for what I want to create. For example, I don’t own any watermelon dies that worked to this scale. When this happens, I encourage you to shop your stash and get creative! While I used full circles, you can absolutely trim these circles down into triangles too!

Also, I have my Copic Marker Combinations to share with you as well for the You’ve Got Style image!
