Hello friends! Today, I am over the moon to be sharing my first blog post using the Picket Fence Studios March 2024 Release! Today, I am featuring the new Brighter Days Gerbera Daisy by Kelly Taylor Stamp Set and the Basic Die Cutting Set 1 Die Set! This new stamp set features this GORGEOUS oversized daisy image, which colors up so beautifully! It also features a handful of delicate yet bold sentiments that will make your card so special!

To create this card, I started by stamping out my Gerbera Daisy image from the Brighter Days Gerbera Daisy by Kelly Taylor Stamp Set in a brown alcohol-marker-safe ink. I do not do this often (and honestly, not often enough). When you stamp out an image in brown ink, it does this magical effect where it softens your images edges, and helps transition your image to have a more natural look to it. I knew I wanted to color my daisy to be yellow, and I immediately was excited to grab my brown ink as yellow pairs so well with brown. Once my image was colored up, I used the coordinating dies to cut it out. I also had a tan piece of cardstock from my scrap stash, which I grabbed. I then stamped the sentiments “You’re an Amazing” and “Friend” onto the tan cardstock in brown ink, and used the same coordinating die set to cut them out. I set all the images aside for later.
Next, using white cardstock, I used the window die cut from the Basic Die Cutting Set 1 Die Set to cut out the shape. I splattered the die cut with Liquid Turquoise Blue Watercolor Paper Splatter and set it aside to dry.
For my background, I grabbed a piece of mixed media paper and worked with Salvaged Patina, Peacock Feathers and Uncharted Mariner Distress Spray Stains to ink up my background. Once dry, I used the 2nd largest die from the A2 Rectangles for Card Layering Die Set to cut down my panel. I adhered the trimmed down panel directly onto a piece of gold metallic paper.
Using liquid adhesive, I nested the bottom edge of my flower stem inside of my window die cut, and adhered the rest of the flower on top of the window die cut. I adhered the whole unit to my card panel, along with my sentiment die cuts. I finished my card off by adhering a few sequins and then attaching the card panel to an A2-sized card base. My card was complete!
