For our Scaly Water Monster from the Horror Trilogy set, I wanted to create a fun and vibrant swampy scene that he could call home! I found a fun way to combine the Tree Scene Craft Die, Grass Scene Craft Die and Spooky Tree Craft Die to make this scene!

To create my night sky, I masked off a circle to serve as the moon, and then used some Red Purple Distress Oxide Colors to blend up my sky. Once I had my sky set and ready to go, I revealed my moon, watered down some Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink and hand-painted some designs onto my moon!

Crafty tip: If you’re using water as part of your scene cards, you can add a couple ripples with white gel pen to give your water a little bit more of a realistic and reflective look!

For the Demonic Cloaked Woman included in the Horror Trilogy stamp set, I went way out of my comfort zone and decided to draw my scene. I wanted to create an underground moldy tunnel that this character could be lurking in, and I really love how this turned out! When I first colored the hallway, I actually didn’t have any of the green mold detail. Something just felt that it was missing… and I decided to go in and add all that mold!

Crafty tip: I like to fussy cut out my sentiments, because I find them incredibly easy to integrate into my cards.. especially scene cards!

For my 3rd Horror Trilogy project, I am featuring our dazzling spooky mistress on a spooky stage. I used the Stage Curtain Craft Dies with the Card Basics Die Set, as they are intended to work together, and also blended up a background using the Celestial Stencil. To amp up the horror factor, I used the Spiderweb Craft Die to drape on top of my curtains and it really worked nicely!

Crafty Tip: I really didn’t want to use liquid adhesive with the Spiderweb Craft Die, so I placed a double-sided adhesive sheet onto a piece of white cardstock first and then die cut the image. This essentially turned the die cut into a sticker and was SUPER easy to use!

To create my 4th Horror Trilogy project, I used the Restrained Cannibal character on a card with a really rusty looking background. I recently watched a Tim Holtz Facebook Live where he showed some fun techniques using Mica Sprays and Embossing Powders, and I picked up a couple fun tips that I wanted to incorporate into my projects. I used an embossing folder from my stash to emboss my Mica Spray background, but used some Black Soot Archival Ink inside my embossing folder to add some depth!

Crafty tip: Don’t be afraid of spray products and embrace the mess! Take some time to watch a few videos for inspiration and just have fun creating panels! Save them for later, and you never know when they will be the perfect fit for a project!

My 5th project features the Cloaked Needle-Faced Fella, and I wanted to make a card that looked like he was traveling through different dimensions! I used 3 different patterns from the Grunge Paper Pack so each layer of my card looked different. It’s also hard to capture with photos, but the silvery border papers are actually more of a highly reflective mirror paper that gives this card a LOT of shine!

Crafty Tip: Invest in patterned paper packs for the holidays. They come themed and will REALLY help amp up your holiday projects! As you can see, the Grunge Paper Pack was a clear go-to for me in this collection!

To finish off my Horror Trilogy collection, I used the Possessed Doll character and decided to put her in a die cut box so she could be “contained”. I created her box using the Closet Craft Die and Stage Curtain Craft Die! I also made a fun yet grungy stenciled background using the Doily Stencil!

Crafty Tip: Sometimes, you can combine 2 different die sets to create a more finished and detailed element for your card! I have used the Stage Curtain Craft Dies with the Closet Craft Dies multiple times and have found some really fun ways to transform my die cuts!
