I decided to make a scene card using the Mini Fir Tree Creative Cuts, and also create my own sentiment with an alpha die set as well!

Below is a list of products used to create this card:

Products Used:

This card was really easy to pull together. I always start by getting all my die cut bits prepped, and also by working on my background. I just love how this background was pulled together, and I have a couple tips to share with you that I hope help you achieve the ombré backgrounds of your dreams!

  1. Work with a good and smooth paper, and ideally one with a little bit of weight to it. One of the papers I recommend is Neenah Classic Crest Solar White cardstock in 110#.
  2. I recommend using foam blending tools over blending brushes for full-panel backgrounds. I think the foam applicators get better coverage when used in larger areas. Additionally, I use Distress Oxide inks a LOT when blending my backgrounds. I find that, sometimes, my blending brushes get a bit difficult to fully clean when using Distress Oxides. I never have to worry about that with my foam tools!
  3. I use a method I call pushing and pulling when working on getting an ombré background. I go back and forth with the colors to push and pull a color into the color it is lying next to. It’s a labor of love, but it works very nicely!
  4. Finally, I heavily recommend adding distractions to your background! By “distractions” what I mean is items like bleach marks from water (only achievable when using a water-reactive ink), or splattering other inks and paints on top of your background. These marks will add interest, but also distract from any potential blemishes you may have!

To create my trees, I die cut some extra tree section dies so that I could make a couple trees taller than the others, just for a nice variety. I used a soft green paper from the Playful Smooth Paper pad for the green of the trees, and ink blended the bottom of each die with both Lucky Clover & Pine Needle Distress Ink. For the trunks of each tree, I grabbed a small piece of scrap kraft cardstock from my stash and ink blended the trunks with Vintage Photo Distress Ink

For my sentiment, I decided to spell out “let it snow” with the Classic Type Alphabet and Number Creative Cuts. I die cut the sentiment once from white cardstock, and then a 2nd time with mirror holographic cardstock, which I adhered behind the white dies, but also slightly offset so it peeked out and gave that nice mirror shine!

I adhered the trees to my panel first. Before adhering my sentiment, I went ahead and splattered my tree panel with White Linen Ink Spray. I thought it would look more real if I went for snowy white splatters onto my snow too!

Thank you so very much for stopping by my blog today! I hope this card leaves you inspired to go and snag that free with purchase Mini Fir Tree Creative Cuts set before the offer expires at the end of the day!
