Hang In There Card

Hey Everyone!

Today I am sharing a super colorful card using the Hang Around set by Kindred Stamps. This little 2″ x 3″ stamp set offers some really cute little sentiments that I feel are just perfect to put on a card and send to a friend with everything going on in the world right now.

Aside from me loving the sentiment options, another reason I love this cute little opossum is that this Hang Around set is only $4.99, so it’s a super fun set to add to your collection without busting your budget!

When making this card, the first thing I did was stamp this guy on white coloring cardstock, but I masked the end of his branch so it wasn’t closed off. I wanted to extend the branch a little bit, so I took a ruler and ran a Copic Multi-liner pen along the edges to make the branch longer.

Next, I colored my image up using the following Copic Markers:

Opossum Fur: W2, W4, W5
Ears & Nose: RV11, RV32, RV34
Branch: E53, E55, E57, E59

I fussy cut my image out and set it aside.

Next, I took an A2-sized panel and placed the Kindred Stamps Tiles Stencil over the top. In a diagonal orientation, I used Distress Oxide Inks to blend an ombré (top to bottom: Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers) with my Picket Fence Studios Life Changing Blending Brushes. After removing my stencil (you know, and getting that “heart eyes emoji” moment after the stencil removal reveal), I splattered some Fun Stampers Journey Sparkle Silk to my panel. Once dry, I took a stitched circle die, placed it onto my Tiles panel, and ran it through my die-cutting machine.

Next, I took a scrap piece of white cardstock (it was probably about 3.5″ x 3.5″) and took the Swirl Stencil (retired, but you can check out other awesome Kindred Stamps Stencils here), placing it on top of my scrap piece of cardstock. I ink-blended a solid layer of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink. I then removed my stencil, cleaned it off, and repositioned it (so the swirls now covered the Tumbled Glass portions as best they can), and ink-blended a solid layer of Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink.

The last element I needed to prepare was the sentiment strip. I took a piece of white scrap cardstock, and stamped the sentiments “hang in there” and “awesome possum” in Memento Bamboo Leaves ink. I then cut this into a sentiment strip, framing it with a light blue cardstock.

To assemble my card, I took my A2 Tiles panel, placed my Hang Around possum into place, adhered the overlapped branch piece to the back of the panel, and placed foam tape on the back of the A2 panel, opossum and branch. I then removed the backing off the foam tape around the circle and on the opossum piece, putting my blue Swirls piece into place.

Next, I removed all the foam tape and adhered the panel to an A2 card base. I adhered my sentiment strip with foam tape, and adhered some sequins from a past Kindred Stamps Shaker Pack for some extra embellishment.

And that’s how I made my card!
