Stay Home, Your Boogers are Gross!

Hey Everyone!

So, to briefly bring it up, it’s been a really crazy past few weeks, and I know we’re in for a crazy few more. I wanted to make a card that is super cute, but also has an important message during these times too (hey, the sassiness helps too!).

Full disclosure, this card was entirely my husband’s idea! He remembered that I had this set, and how much I loved it, and said it would make a perfect card during this time. I knew I had to do it.

So follow along with me as I talk about how I put this card together, and I’ve even got a color guide too!

First, I took out the Kindred Stamps Wacky Holiday- National Nose Picking Day set, and stamped out the gross little cutie and colored him up with the following Copic Markers:

Skin: E0000, E00, E04, E11
Hair: E51, E53, E55, E57, E59
Shirt Blues: BG11, BG13, BG15
Shirt Yellows: Y11, Y13, Y15
Shirt Greens: YG01, YG05, YG07
Pants: G12, G14, G16, G20
Shoes: BG45, BG49
Socks: C0

I also took a 4″ x 5.25″ panel of white cardstock and stamped the little boogie stamp in a background pattern on the cardstock. I colored the boogies with the following Copic Markers:

Boogies: YG05, YG07, YG09

I also added some white gel pen accents to the boogies for a little bit of a highlight effect.

The final images I colored up were some letters from the Doodle Lowercase set to spell out “stay home”. The Copic Markers used were:

Letters: BG11, BG13, BG15, BG18

I then fussy cut out my nose-picking cutie and my letters, and set them aside.

To make my background, I knew I was going to need to cut out a lot of masks. So, I took a small stack of full-back-adhesive post-its and stamped out a few boogies. I then fussy cut them out. This is a fantastic tip I learned from the Kindred Stamps Design Team’s Lynnea in her Bobalicious video! I plan on using this tip several more times in the future!

After I masked all of the boogies, I took out some Catherine Pooler Inks and blended an ombré (top to bottom: Limoncello, Lime Rickey, Grass Skirt & Aquatini). To help these blend together better, I spritzed my panel with some water, let it dry, and then flicked some glittery embellishment on-top.

When I removed my mask, I was SO in love with this project, and I was only part-way done!

I mounted my boogie panel to a teal A2-sized panel of cardstock for a frame. I also cut a .75″ x 4.25″ strip of the same teal cardstock and adhered my Doodle Lowercase letters to it so they read “stay home” to the strip. I set the strip aside until it was time to put everything together.

For my sentiment, I wanted to use part of the “Get well soon your boogers are gross” sentiment from the National Nose Picking Day set. So before stamping the sentiment onto white cardstock, I masked off the “get well soon” portion of the sentiment. I made my sentiment into a little strip, and framed it with the same teal cardstock.

I now had all my pieces to put my project together. I used .125″ thick foam tape to adhere my sentiment pieces to the card, along with my little nose picker. I also took some Kindred Stamps shaker elements (along with the actual embellishments that came with the set last year).

I adhered this to an A2-sized card panel and my card was done!

Stay safe, stay healthy, stay in good spirits, stay inside as much as possible, and happy crafting!

Justin
