For the Love of Summer Blog Hop: Beach Card

Hello Everyone! I am super excited to be participating in this week’s edition of the For the Love of Summer Blog Hop! Today is all about your Summer Chill Zone! So we’re focusing on all of the relaxing activities people love to do over the summer! And I’m serving up a full on beach day card! So follow along with me while I show you how I made this card!

For my project, I used the Lawn Fawn On the Beach and Smooth Sailing sets to stamp the images, using my MISTI & Gina K Amalgam Obsidian Ink and colored up the following images with my Copic Markers:

On the Beach: Sunbathing Fox, Rainbow Towel, Umbrella, Coconut Drink, Beach Ball and Seashells.

Smooth Sailing: Sailboat & Anchor.

I fussy cut all of my images out and set them to the side.

Next, I took a piece of Yellow Really Rainbow Scallops Paper, and used the 2 largest Stitched Rectangle Stackables Dies to cut out a chunky A2-sized Frame. I then set my Yellow Scalloped Frame aside.

My background consists of a lot of layers. So I used my A2-sized Stitched Rectangle Stackables Die and cut out (2) rectangles from white cardstock, and (1) Spiffy Speckles Paper, where it is blue speckles on white paper.

For one of my white cardstock stitched rectangle cut outs, I used 2 different Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Border dies to serve as mounds of sand. I then took Brushed Corduroy Distress Oxide Ink and blended it from the bottom of the piece towards the top of the mound with my blending brushes. I then took Gathered Twigs Distress Oxide Ink and blended the top of the sand mounds to give it some dimension. I spritzed both pieces with water and let them dry. I placed my sand die cut pieces in my splatter box, and splattered them with some Walnut Stain and Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink that I had smushed onto my Tim Holtz Glass Media Mat.

For the second piece of white cardstock, I used the Stamp Anniething Waves Die and cut out 2 wave pieces. For the waves, I blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink from the top towards the bottom of the piece with my blending brushes. I then used Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink to blend from the bottom up. I spritzed both pieces with water and let them dry. Next, I put them in my splatter box and splattered them with Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Ink.

Finally, I took a banner die from the Flippin’ Awesome Die Set, used a piece of blue on blue Spiffy Speckles paper from my used paper stash, die cut the banner, and stamped the sentiment “Have a Relaxing Summer” from On the Beach in Versafine Clair Nocturne ink using my MISTI.

Now, I had all the pieces to start layering my card together. First, I took the blue splatters on white background Spiffy Speckles paper and used it to be my sky. I adhered my layers, using my Tape Runner XL, on to this Spiffy Speckles panel from the top down: wave layer, wave layer, sand layer, sand layer. I also took the Sailboat and anchor and adhered them in between layers to give some depth. I also adhered the seashells directly to these panels.

Using foam tape, I adhered the Yellow Scalloped Stitched Rectangle Frame to my card panel. I then adhered the rest of my images and sentiment banner using foam tape to create my scene and some fun layers. I also had some images coming out of the frame, which I think added a fun layer of depth to the card.

I adhered this panel to a card base made from Neenah Classic Crest Cardstock 110# in Solar White, and that’s my card!
