Before we jump into today’s project, I wanted to let you know that I sometimes use affiliate links to share my favorite products. Don’t worry, these links won’t cost you a dime – they’re just little crafty helpers behind the scenes that help support me if you use them to make a purchase! Let’s dive into today’s creative journey together!
Hey friends! I’m flying in to share the good news that the Kindred Stamps October Release is only a few days away! I am feeling mighty popular because I had a chance to work with the brand new set Defying Friends! This 4″ x 4″ set features a pair of best friend witches that may have started out questioning their feelings of loathing one another, but ended up becoming better people because of their friendships!
I have created (3) projects using the new Defying Friends stamp set, and would love to share what I’ve created with you!
Kindred Stamps Products Used:
Defying Friends Stamp Set
Dragon Scales Stencil
Bubbles Stencil
Card Basics Die Set
Snowfall Embossing Powder
Embossing Ink Pad
For my first Defying Friends project, I wanted to feature both of the witches together with the sentiment “We’re 2 Best Friends”. I decided to embrace a card design that is truly half green and half pink. I did the left half of the card in all green, and I used an ink-blending technique with the Dragon Scales stencil. Then, on the right side of the card, I went pink with the Bubbles stencil. I blended the colors so that the lightest colors were in the center of the card, and this allowed me to blend pink and green into one another!
Pro Tip: If you are coloring up an image an want to embrace extra sparkles, I highly encourage you to try lightly painting on some clear glitter, like Liquid Pixie Dust! I added glitter embellishments to the pink witch’s gown and crown, and I think it really added a necessary extra flair!

For my 2nd Defying Friends card, I featured the Green Witch with a colorful and textured background. I used a combination of Distress Spray Stains an Mica Spray Stains to ink up the base of my background. Once dried, I applied a black glitter paper glaze over the Snakeskin stencil. I just LOVE how this worked out. I also used the Card Basics Die Set to cut out some star shapes from light green pastel paper, and adhered them to the card as well!
Pro-Tip: I have shared this tip before, and will forever. Use low tack spray with your delicate stencils! The use of the spray helps lock the stencil onto your panel, and greatly reduces the likelihood of any under-stencil paste smudging!

House in a Hillside Die
Distress Bricks Stencil
Card Basics Die Set
Clear Embossing Powder
For my final Defying Friends card, I wanted to feature the Pink Witch on a scene card. I pulled in the fairly new House in a Hillside die set, sans any of the house dies, to create a hilly scene! I ink blended the hill, grass, and a couple trees for my scene as well! I also pulled in the Distress Bricks stencil to create a yellow brick walkway. Lastly, I used a piece of pearlescent vellum to die cut a circle bubble shape for the Pink Witch to fly in on!
Pro-Tip: Play with perspective when building a scene. This may sound very basic, but remember that the larger an item, the closer it is (typically). For the card above, I placed the larger tree in front of the hill, and then tucked the smaller tree slightly behind the hill to give the illusion that its set further back.
In addition to my 3 cards, I also have the Copic Marker Combinations for each of the images from Defying Friends that I colored up as well!
