A Cheerful Chick Shaker Card for Spring
For my project, I created a colorful shaker card that feels like the very first happy signs of spring. I wanted something playful, bright, and full of movement—and shaker cards are always perfect for that!
This card features several brand new products from the release:
- Chick Shaker Die Set
- Spring Blooms Stamp Set + Coordinating Dies
- Watercolor Circle with Mask Stencil
- Pastel Dreams Shaker Beads
I did use a few other key products that helped bring all of the vibes together for this card, including:
- Catherine Pooler Inks: Party Dress, Tiara, Aquatini, Oh Boy!, and Grape Crush
- Acetate
- 3mm Foam Strips
- Mint Tape
Right away, I knew I wanted to build the card around a vibrant watercolor-style background. I used the Watercolor Circle with Mask Stencil to create that soft blended circle behind the chick. The bright aqua tones paired with splatter add texture and keep the background fun and energetic without overpowering the focal point.
Let’s Talk About That Chick 🐥
The star of the show is definitely the adorable chick shaker! I die cut the pieces from bright yellow cardstock and layered everything together to create the dimensional shaker window. Then I filled it with Pastel Dreams Shaker Beads, which add the perfect mix of spring color and show-stopping sparkle.
I absolutely love how the beads mimic colorful Easter egg candy inside the cracked shell—it adds movement and whimsy that makes the card feel extra special.
Finishing Touches
To complete the design, I added the Hello Spring sentiment from the Spring Blooms Stamp Set. The script font gives the card a light, friendly feel and balances all of the bright color beautifully.
This entire project ended up being a perfect mix of:
- Bold color
- Fun texture
- Playful dimension
- Happy spring vibes
Honestly, this card just makes me smile!
