Kindred Stamps August Release: Broom-Haha

Before we jump into today’s project, I wanted to let you know that I sometimes use affiliate links to share my favorite products. Don’t worry, these links won’t cost you a dime – they’re just little crafty helpers behind the scenes that help support me if you use them to make a purchase! Let’s dive into today’s creative journey together!

Hello, friends! With the end of August upon us, it’s time for the Kindred Stamps monthly release! This month, I am super excited to share a few projects using the new set Broom-Haha! This set features a familiar trio of witch sisters, however this set features their Salem Cottage and each of the witches flying through the air!

I created 3 projects showcasing this stamp set, so let’s get into the spellbinding details!

Stick around until the end for Copic Marker Combinations that I used to color up all of these images!

Broom-Haha Stamp Set
Forest Stencil
Grass and Clouds Stencil
Snowfall Embossing Powder

For my first project using the new Broom-Haha stamp set, I wanted to create a scene card that features all the images included in the stamp set. I colored up each of the images with Copic Markers and fussy cut them out. I actually trimmed the magical smoke from the fire place off so that it fit my scene a little better!

I decided to make a slimline card because I found it would be a great format to make sure that all of the characters fit into the card appropriately. I used a series of the Forest Stencil and the Grass and Clouds Stencil to build up my scene. I also splattered the night sky with some Gold Paper Splatter Watercolor and I just adore how it turned out!

Pro-Tip: Don’t feel locked into your standard A2-size card. Have fun with different card sizes that work with your creation! I like to use slimline card when I like to create a larger scene card, because there is a lot more card real estate to work with! Or, when I’m creating with larger dies, I like to work with either an A7 size card OR a 5.5″ Square card!

I Put a Spell On You Word Die

Forest Stencil
Grass & Clouds Stencil

For my 2nd Broom-Haha project, I had this idea to create a scene card with an in-laid raised word die cut sentiment. The “I Put a Spell on You” word die is one of my all time favorite dies, and it absolutely BEGS to be used with this stamp set! I colored up the Salem Cottage on an A2-sized piece of Copic X-Press It Cardstock, covered it with masking magic paper, and then blended my scene around the card. I actually had to create the whole scene card before I began working on the sentiment portion.

I had die cut the I Put a Spell On You sentiment 3 times from black cardstock, and then I positioned it onto my scene panel and die cut the sentiment out. I kept all the little negative pieces and set them aside. I adhered the die cut panel to an A2-size card base, adhered a black sentiment die cut into the open die cut space, and carefully adhered each of the “inside” die cut pieces into their respective places. I then adhered each of the remaining die cuts directly on top of each other, with the colored die cut on top, and adhered this stacked unit directly on top of the die cut on the card.

Pro-Tip: Over the past year, I have kept the Sizzix Chrome Precision Plate in my Die Cutting arsenal. To say that I love this plate is an understatement. I do not rely upon it for ALL my die cutting, as I do like to reserve it for only the necessary more intricate die cuts. However, it does a fantastic job cutting through intricate dies, and also works with some paper that is slightly thicker than others.

Cast a Spell Paper Pack

Salem Sisters Shaker Pack

For my final Broom-Haha project, I wanted to feature the Green Cloak Sister on her very own shaker card. The Cast a Spell paper pack coordinates PERFECTLY with this stamp set, and I picked 2 different patterns to showcase on this card.

Lastly, I pulled in the Salem Sisters Shaker Pack and mixed them with a sequin mix from my stash to create a truly magical shaker mix.

Pro-Tip: I am a huge proponent of glitter paper. However, I believe it should be used sparingly, and should peek out in different areas of your project. For example, I used the orange glitter paper to thinly frame out the different die cuts of this card, where it gives a nice and subtle sparkle!

Now, as promised, I have the Copic Marker combinations for each of the images for you to refer to as a guide!
