Before we jump into today’s project, I wanted to let you know that I sometimes use affiliate links to share my favorite products. Don’t worry, these links won’t cost you a dime – they’re just little crafty helpers behind the scenes that help support me if you use them to make a purchase! Let’s dive into today’s creative journey together!
Hello friends, and happy Kindred Stamps Release week! I am helping kick off the new release with the brand new 6″ x 8″ stamp set, Hollow Family! This set comes with 5 characters from a quaint New England small town, along with their iconic gazebo that serves as the town’s centerpiece!
There is also a coordinating die set available for the gazebo only, and it includes an equally as iconic coffee mug shape die as well!
I created 3 projects featuring the new stamp set, so let’s get into it!

The 1st Hollow Family project I am sharing features the namesake mother & daughter in front of the town’s gazebo. I wanted to create a scene card that had this dynamic duo outside, so I used the cloud portion of the Part of a Pride stencil, and the Grass Scene Craft Die. I used Distress Oxide Inks to blend up both the grass and the sky, and just love the soft feel it gives!
Pro-Tip: Splattering your background and die-cut elements with ink is a great way to add a little bit of extra detail to your elements. I highly recommend using Distress Oxide inks for your splattering. The hybrid quality of the ink allows your splatters to sit on your paper for a short period of time before drying, and the ink often will not sink in and “branch out” the way a dye ink will on some paper.

Embossing Ink Pad
For my 2nd Hollow Family card, I really wanted to feature the Coffee Cup die cut from the Hollow Family Gazebo Die Set. I die cut the image multiple times from light yellow cardstock, and then ink-blended all of them with Wild Honey Distress Ink. I placed the coffee cups onto a background I had blended up with blue Distress Oxide Inks (Broken Glass, Salty Ocean & Prize Ribbon). I also wanted to add red into the color palette as well, as it’s featured on the Diner Owner’s shirt in this card, so I used the color for my sentiment strip and matte layer.
Pro-Tip: Get yourself an anti-static tool for heat embossing. It is a GAME CHANGER. I love my Embossing Tool from Taylored Expressions. It’s not a brush our a pouch like so many others on the market. Instead, it’s essentially a foam pad, covered in a soft fabric, that does a fantastic job applying powder to your areas you wish to heat emboss!

Box Card DieNanny Paper Pack
Clear Embossing Powder
For my final project featuring the Hollow Family stamp set, I grabbed the new Pop Up Card Die to create a project featuring the Grandparents from this set. The Pop Up box is super easy to assemble, and I grabbed one of the patterns from the Nanny Paper Pack to give this classy duo a stylish feel. I also popped on the sentiment “Life’s too short” in black ink and embossed it with Clear Powder!
Pro-Tip: When using a Pop-Up Box die, I recommend using small pieces of firm acetate to help hold your characters upright, without the need to actually adhere your colored up images directly to your pop-up box bases.
As promised, I also have the Copic Marker combinations for each of the images in this stamp set!
