Kindred Stamps March Release- Spice It Up

Call to the crafty world! It’s Kindred Stamps March Release Week! I am reliving all my British girl group fantasies with the brand new set, Spice It Up! I had so much nostalgic fun creating up my 4 projects with this brand new set, and I’m also showing off a couple awesome new release products as well that pair perfectly with this set! Also, stick around to the end of the post, where I have the Copic Marker Combinations for each girl in this pop group! Alright.. let’s go!

Kindred Stamps Products Used:
Spice It Up Stamp Set
Stage Builder Stencil
Snowfall Embossing Powder
Embossing Ink Pad

Other Products Used:
Copic Markers
Copic Coloring Paper
Blending Cardstock
Distress Oxide Inks: Ground Espresso, Vintage Photo, Peacock Feathers, Prize Ribbon, Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot, & Squeezed Lemonade
Sparkle Silk
Prima Metallic Watercolor Accents
Colored Cardstock
Iridescent Bubble Embellishments
Foam Tape

For my first Spice It Up project, I wanted to feature all the girls together on stage together! I made an easy concert stage background by blending up multiple Distress Oxide Inks, and then using the Stage Builder Stencil over it to blend up some spotlights. I thought that adding some metallic and Sparkle Silk accents would work very well to help create a concert vibe! I popped on a fussy cut sentiment with foam tape, along with some iridescent bubbles, and was completed!

Pro-Tip: Sometimes, you may stamp or heat emboss a sentiment directly onto your panel, and it smudges or doesn’t come out as crisp as you want. Your project is not ruined though! I recommend covering it up with a new sentiment, either on a sentiment strip or fussy cut from paper, and then adhered directly over top. That’s actually what happened with the sentiment on this project, as my original impression of the heat embossed sentiment was a little more smooshed than I would like!

London City Die
Distress Oxide Inks: Broken China & Black Soot
Distress Inks: Barn Door, Aged Mahogany, Weathered Wood, Salvaged Patina & Hickory Smoke
Prima Metallic Watercolor Accents
Iridescent Bubble Embellishments
Colored Cardstock
Foam Tape

For my 2nd Spice It Up project, I wanted to do a London Scene card using the new Double Decker Bus Die! I used some different Distress Inks to distress the edges of the windows, white sign, and bottom of the bus to create some shading, and I love how it turned out. I also grabbed a Cloud Stencil from my stash and blended up a quick sky, and also adhered a die cut on top to give the London Skyline. I popped on the Pigtail Girl and finished this card with some iridescent bubble embellishments!

Pro-Tip: One of my biggest pieces of advice when using die cuts is to try and distress the edges with a slightly darker ink color. It really helps create a great shading effect and gives a nice finished edge to elements in your project!

For my 3rd Spice It Up project, I was super excited to use the new British Invasion Paper Pack! There are so many fantastic prints, and the Union Jack Flag Hearts totally spoke to me! I made a layered up background with a few die cuts in my stash, and made sure to feature the Union Jack Flag Heart print on top! For my sentiment, I heat embossed the girl power sentiment onto navy paper, fussy cut the sentiment out and popped it on with some foam tape, on top of a cut stitched heart die. I featured the Fashionable Girl and Red-Haired Girl, and finished up the card with the same iridescent embellishments!

Pro-Tip: For the Red-Haired Girl, I used a pencil to draw some light lines on her corset so I can color it up in a striped pattern! The lines can then easily be erased after your ink is fairly dry!

Radiant Red Fancy Foil
Candy Stripes Toner Card Front
Colored Cardstock
Glitter Paper
Iridescent Bubble Embellishments

For my final Spice It Up project, I featured the Athletic Girl and Leopard Print Girl on top of the brand new Union Jack Flag Die Cut! I had a lot of fun piecing this new die together with some different paper types and colors. I also heat embossed the sentiment directly onto the center stripe of the flag using the Snowfall Embossing Powder! The background was a breeze, as I inked up a Candy Stripes Toner Card Front with some blue Distress Inks, and then transferred the Radiant Red Foil to the background!

Pro-Tip: Glitter paper is a great way to add some subtle detail to die cuts with detailed sections. I only used blue glitter paper for the Union Jack Flag die cut, and it provides a really nice shimmer… and isn’t overwhelming at the same time!

  1. Hey Justin, you’ve out done yourself again. Love how your first piece came together! The clouds, the silhouette background, Big Ben, the London Eye, your window (glass effect) coloring… love it. Your Union Jack flag card, you left the lighting around the girls which really made them pop and catch the eyes attention. Your coloring skills are great!

  2. THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for posting the colours you used! I can’t thank you enough for doing this so often. It really makes the difference between me being extremely daunted by a stamp set versus completely excited. Thank you!
