Be sure to stick around for the end of the post to see where you’ll be hopping for more inspiration, along with some details regarding how you can enter into this month’s Release Week Giveaway!
One thing that I just love using die cuts for is to make shaker cards, so I knew I wanted to do that with this amazing and cute new product!
First, I took the Merry Pigmas set, and colored up my piggy with alcohol markers. I used the coordinating die to cut them out. I set my piggy aside for later.
Next, using the Candy Twist stencil, I used Oxide Inks to blend a red ombré on a 4.125″ x 5.375″ piece of white cardstock., going from a darker red on top to a lighter red on the bottom. The decided I wanted to use my Candy Twist die and cut 3 horizontal lines from this piece. I ran the stenciled piece through my die cutter 3 times to get this done. I took the now die cut panel, and adhered it to an A2-sized piece of red cardstock so it had a nice frame.
By having the die cut panel on top of the red, it acted like a track for needing to die cut again through the red panel (I was creating 3 shaker windows, after all). I ran my panel through the die cutting machine 3 more times with the Candy Twist die. I then took 3 scrap pieces of acetate and adhered them on the back of red piece of cardstock.
Next, I took more red cardstock and die cut 3 Candy Twist Dies. I took one die to adhere over each window directly on top of the acetate.
Taking foam tape and doubling it up, I flipped my main panel over, and created 3 sectioned off areas for my shaker bits. I poured red and white sequins into each of these wells, removed the backing of my foam tape, and adhered a 4.125″ x 5.375″ piece of red and white scalloped pattern cardstock directly onto the back. I gave my panel a quick shake and was good to proceed (meaning nothing flew out of the foam tape that required re-adhering).
To finish up this card, I stamped the sentiment “Happy Hoglidays” from Merry Pigmas on white cardstock and framed it in red cardstock to make it into a banner. I adhered my piggy and sentiment strip directly to my card panel, and took the whole unit and adhered it to an A2-sized card base!
