Hey All! I am so happy you are joining us for the Pear Blossom Press Light Up Hop using EZ-Lights. Trust me when I say “You will be using these all the time once you see how EZ they are to assemble.” Please hop along with all of our wonderful designers. If you are just joining us make sure you start at the top!
I was so incredibly excited when I was invited to join in on this Blog Hop, especially because I’ve had a light up card idea rolling around in my head for a long time now! I knew that it would work out perfectly with the EZ-Lights!
For this project, I used the (retired) You’re Super stamp set from Kindred Stamps, specifically the Robot Hero provided in the set. I colored this guy up, and then cut out 4 areas: each of his eyes, his hand center and his chest center, because I knew these were the areas that I wanted to light up. I then covered the back of these areas with vellum.
For the sentiment, I heat embossed “I Love You 3000” from the Ink Road Stamps Heroes Volume 1 set. I also used the Comic Dots Stencil from Kindred Stamps to create the background (I used Barn Door Distress Oxide Ink on Yellow Cardstock and framed it in Brutus Monroe Scarlet Cardstock).
I cut out the bursts using my Cricut Explore Air 2, with a corresponding frame for each of the 3 burst. I then used the Comic Dots Stencil once again to give each of the bursts a different comic look.
I played around with the layout of my pieces so i knew how to plan my lights. After I decided where my Robot Heroes EZ-Lights would be, I carefully marked behind those areas with a pencil, and cut them out using an exacto knife.
Now, let me just talk for a second about how EASY these EZ-Lights are to use. Each pack comes with 3 lights. All you have to do is slide the battery into the base, and the unit will light up when pressed!
One great thing about the EZ-Lights is that they come in different quantity bundles to help your crafting budget, including: a (2) Pack, a (3) Pack, a (5) Pack and a (20) Pack!
I’d like to share an image about how the inside of my card looked before I put the panel on top.
As you can see, it’s a lot of foam tape to help hold the top panel up, but also to keep the EZ-Lights in a specific area. For the lights, they are each on a strand that gives you a lot of length. My run from the battery was fairly short, so I coiled the wires around the end of a watercolor paintbrush (it was the closes thing I had), and then taped down the coil with washi tape (that’s the striped blue tape you see). I then put each of the EZ-Lights into the proper place, and taped them down super close to hold them in place but not to affect the light!
When I put my top panel on, it looked like this!
I also added a “PUSH HERE” button from the Lawn Fawn Charge Me Up Stamp Set, and adhered it to show where to push the EZ-Light Batter Pack!
Now, I also wanted to include a picture about how cool this card looks when you press the button! I apologize in advance regarding the darnkess of the image, but I really wanted to show you how those EZ-Lights make those eyes light up!
And that’s how I made my card!
Now, this is a blog hop! So here’s the order and where you’re off to next!
