Hey Everyone! Today I am super excited because this is my very first blog post for The Rabbit Hole Designs where I am part of their Release Week Inspiration Hop! I’ve got an adorable set to share with you that features the new set, OWL-Right!
Now be sure to stick around for the end of this blog to find out where to hop to next for more inspiration and learn about the Release Week Giveaway!
For this project, I drew inspiration from a tree hollow, and pictured these owls as little babies nestled inside, full of personality, and waiting for Momma Owl to return!
First I stamped my owls, colored them in every bright color of the rainbow and fussy cut them out. I set these owls aside for later.
Next, I cut an A2-sized piece of Kraft Cardstock and placed my Circle Illusion stencil over it. I wanted to pick a stencil that would look the closest to a woodgrain pattern, and I felt that the Circle Illusion stencil was a decently close pick! I ink-blended a dark brown ink of the stencil for a solid application. Then I removed the stencil, and ink-blended a black ink around the edges of the card for some extra shading.
After my ink-blending was done, I die cut a stitched circle in the upper center part of my stenciled panel. I also die-cut a stitched circle frame in kraft cardstock that would lay over this cut out perfectly. I distressed the edges with the same brown ink to add some shading. I adhered the shaded circle frame directly over the tree hollow with foam squares!
I cut out a large circle with my largest circle die in kraft cardstock. I blended this circle entirely with the brown ink, and then went over it in black to make it look like the dark part of the inner-hollow. This would be the background to where I place my owls. I used double-sided tape to adhere my colored owls to my shaded background circle. I flipped my stenciled panel over and lined the circle cut out on the backside with foam squares. I removed the backing of my foam squares, and carefully positioned my owls to look like they were nesting inside.
I then placed a couple more foam squares to the backside of my almost-finished panel, and mounted it to an A2-sized card base.
To finish the card, I heat embossed the sentiment “Like birds of a feather we flock together” in white powder on a black strip of cardstock, and mounted it to the lower right of my card with foam squares.
And that’s how I made my card!
