Hello everyone! Today I’ve got an easy card that I made using the Kindred Stamps Mountain Climbing Day set!
I colored up my little mountain climber using Copic Markers, and fussy cut him out so he didn’t have a white border at all. I ran a black marker along the edges to give him a finished edge look.
For my mountain background, I used the Stamp Anniething Mountain Top Die set, die cut the mountains out of light gray cardstock, and distressed the edges using Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink with a Blending Brush. Then, for the snowy mountain top piece, I used very light application of Rina K Blaring Blue Electro Pop Ink. I adhered the snowy tops on top of the mountain.
Side note: even though I used a die to create my mountains, you could also get really creative with creating them without a die. You could practice some torn paper techniques, or even put some square-cut pieces to use to make for wonderful mountain tops!
To make my cloudy sky, All I did was take white cardstock and used a Blending Brush to lightly add splotches of Catherine Pooler It’s a Boy ink (if you don’t solidly blend blue, the white almost looks like wispy clouds). I adhered my mountains to this panel, trimmed the panel to 4.125″ x 5.375″, adhered it to an A2-sized black cardstock panel for framing, and had my scene. I also stamped the sentiment “I’d climb mountains for you”, which is included with the Mountain Climbing Day set, in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink.
For my rock climbing panel, I cut a strip of light gray cardstock (about 1.5″ x 5.5″), and then used one of the negatives from my mountain top die cut to lightly blend a jagged rocky effect with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink and a Blending Brush. I splattered watered down Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink and Black Soot Distress Ink to give it more of a rocky look. I adhered this strip to a piece of black cardstock to frame it. I also took a piece of thick red twine from my stash, ran it down the card, and taped it to the backside so that it was taught. I used foam tape to adhered this strip directly to my mountain panel.
For my Mountain Climbing Day climber, I took a small piece of black cardstock and placed 2 pieces of foam tape so there was a very small gap. I placed this mechanism under the red twine rope (so the rope ran directly through the gap), removed the backing of the foam tape, and then pressed my climber directly onto this piece (his head/helmet is the section directly adhering to my little mechanism. This allows me to be able to push my climber up and down the rope!
I finished the card off by applying some Pirate Sequins from a past shaker pack and adhered the panel to an A2-sized card base, and that’s my card!
