KS June 2020 Release- Manor Haunts

Welcome my foolish crafty mortals! I hope you all are feeling EXTRA spoopy today, because I am shrieking with excitement to share my projects using the new Kindred Stamps set, Manor Haunts, part of their June Release!

This 4″ x 8″ set contains a tomb-full of ghostly characters and sentiments, which are perfect for Halloween, New Home Congratulations, Birthdays, and so many other occasions!

I have 4 projects to share with you, so hop in my haunted craft buggy and let’s get to it!

My first Manor Haunts project uses the Crystal Ball Lady, along with the buildable sentiment “Spirits from beyond tell me” and “you’re another year older”.

Because this project uses a crystal ball image, I wanted to make a swirly ghostly background, and just knew I wanted to do it with Alcohol Inks!

First, I colored up my Manor Haunts Crystal Ball Lady using Copic Markers and fussy cut her out. I set her aside for later.

Next, I created my alcohol ink background using a 4.125″ x 5.375″ piece of Yupo Paper, a lot of Alcohol Blending solution, and the following Ranger Ink by Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Colors: Patina, Aquamarine, and Glacier. I also used Piñata Brass Alcohol Ink for some added metallic effect. I set my panel aside to dry.

Next, I cut an A2-sized piece of Navy Cardstock and set it aside. I then took a strip of light blue cardstock and used the Flash stencil to blend a light blue effect over the strip using Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide Ink. I stamped my sentiment using Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink with my MISTI, and matted the strip in a slightly thicker navy cardstock strip.

I was now ready to put my card together. I matted my alcohol ink background with my A2-sized navy cardstock, I then adhered my sentiment and my Crystal Ball Lady using Foam Tape. Finally, I adhered some sequins from a past Kindred Stamps Shaker Pack and adhered my panel to an A2-sized card base, and I was done!

Now, is the card actually stretching? The answer is yes! I was able to come up with a way to make a stretching slimline card using the new Manor Haunts set for my next project!

I colored my Umbrella Girl from Manor Haunts with Copic Markers, and used a Copic Friendly Pen to draw my crocodile (I apologize for it looking amateur, but I needed the croc!), and colored that ink with Copic Markers as well. Then, I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink to blend the sky, and colored the water with Copic Markers.

This card is actually a slightly modified slider card. I made 2 slimline panels using the Purple Wallpaper Print from the Day In The Park Paper Pack. The stretching panel, the “underneath” panel where my portrait is actually adhered, is on a slider, but also in a folder of sorts as well. I used 2 pieces of 1″ black scrap cardstock, scored at the 1/2″ line and adhered from the top panel to the card base itself, to hold the sliding layer in tact.

I used a gift tag die cut on the sliding panel to create an area that was easy to pull.

I used the sentiment “Home is where you’re haunted” on a distressed die cut on gray cardstock, stamped in Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink, with the edges distressed with Hickory Smoke Distress Oxide Ink. I finished the card with some Sailor’s Sky Sparkletz!

For my 3rd Manor Haunts project, I also wanted to use the sentiment “Home is where you’re haunted” on a gift tag that I felt would be just perfect for a new homeowner!

First, I colored up my Axe-wielding Bride from Manor Haunts with Copic Markers, fussy cut her out and set her aside. I also took the sentiment and slightly reconstructed it so it was 2 shorter lines of text instead of 1 long line. I used white embossing powder on black cardstock, and cut that out as well.

Next, I took a die cut of a gift tag, and cut it out of white cardstock. Using Black Soot Distress Oxide Ink, I covered the tag entirely with a Blending Brush. Next, I took the Candy Cane stencil, placed it over the tag, and went over it with Black Soot Distress Ink (NOT Distress Oxide Ink again) using a foam blending tool. This gave me a darker black than the Distress Oxide gave me, and it was a fun little subtle pattern.

Detour: You all know how much I love my Distress Oxide Inks, and I don’t think I will EVER be able to give them up fully. But every once in a while, I really love embracing a true dye ink because I get that vibrant color that you don’t get sometimes with Distress Oxide Inks. Sometimes, I love using Distress Inks (same line of colors, but different types of inks). I buy the mini inks (1″ x 1″ pads, sometimes coming in packs of 4), and use them with the foam blenders because I’ve found they blend better for me.

Ok, back to the tag!

I wanted to add even more pattern to this tag, so I took out my Damask stencil and tacked it onto my tag. I really like the Damask stencil, and find myself using it in times where I want a wallpaper like pattern! I think it lends itself really well to an interior decor sort of style, or even a fabric pattern! I took out the new Haunted Glitter Gloss, which is a beautiful combination of purple and black, and applied a solid layer over my stencil using a Stencil Pal. I removed my Damask stencil, set my tag aside to dry, and cleaned off my stencil immediately.

Once my tag was fully dry, I used some foam tape to adhere my Manor Haunts Bride and sentiment piece. I adhered some sequins from the Violet Blossom Sequin Tin with Art Glitter Designer Adhesive for some extra embellishment, because I felt the sequins coordinated so well with the Haunted Glitter Gloss. I had some gray and white string that I used for my tag, and I was done!

For my final Manor Haunts project, I wanted to make the Head-in-a-box Ghost the main feature. So I colored him up with some Copic Markers, fussy cut him out and set him aside.

Next, I took a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of white cardstock and stamped each of the characters from Manor Haunts in a random pattern using Embossing Ink. I then used Clear Embossing powder on them and heat set the powder.

I went over this entire panel with Rina K Electro Pop Blaring Blue Neon Ink, using a foam blending tool. I wanted the center to be lighter than the edges, so I kept starting from the edges and blended towards the center. This allowed my edges to stay dark. I then used a microfiber towel to wipe the ink off of the embossed powder, utilizing an emboss resist technique (in short, if you heat emboss something, it will not pick up the ink when you blend over it). I mounted this panel to a 4.125″ x 5.375″ panel of light blue cardstock using Art Glitter Designer Adhesive, and then adhered the light blue cardstock piece to an A2-sized piece of black cardstock, giving it a double frame effect.

I used a stitched rectangle die cut to cut out a sentiment box from white cardstock. I ink blended this die cut using the Blaring Blue Ink, keeping the edges darker than the center. I used the Swirly Bits stencil to give a little bit of texture to the piece, and then stamped the sentiment “Congrats on your new manor” with Versafine Clair Nocture Ink. I matted this layer with a piece of black cardstock.

To finish this card, I adhered my Manor Haunts Head-in-a-box Ghost and sentiment piece using foam tape, and then adhered some sequins from a past Kindred Stamps Shaker Pack. I adhered this card to an A2-sized card base, and I was finished!
