CASE the Fellow Creator Hop- I Predict an Amazing Birthday Card

Hello Everyone! Today I am super excited to be participating in the CASE the Fellow Creator Hop being held by the Facebook Group Handmade Happiness! This group welcomes all crafters who have a blog, YouTube or social media account that is dedicated to crafting! You can check out Handmade Happiness here, and you can use the hashtag #CASEthefellowcreator to see all the amazing projects participating!

Now, what does CASE mean? It means “Copy and Share Everything”. So when you find inspiration that someone made, you decide you want to make it for yourself, and also give credit back to the person who made it.

Who am I CASE-ing? One of my best crafty friends: Brianne Firth!

I’ve always loved and appreciated Brianne’s style. She approaches her projects with a clean cut and organized style, and her coloring is always on POINT (seriously, she is my main role model when it comes to hair coloring, and I’ve told her how much I admire her coloring several many times).

I am CASE-ing a project that Brianne made using the Kindred Stamps set World of Magic for a release last May.

You can check out Brianne’s blog post here!

I chose this project because I own the World of Magic set, and haven’t used it yet (which essentially means it’s been sitting around for about a year now, unused… oops). I also saw how she made her center sentiment, and it reminded me of a crystal ball, which would look so amazing as a shaker card… And boom, my idea was born.

For my project, I did a little bit of all my favorite things. First, I colored my fortune telling professor from the World of Magic set (retired) by Kindred Stamps up using Copic Markers and fussy cut her out leaving a thin white border.

Next, I wanted to do a little bit of Alcohol Ink-ing for the inside of my crystal ball. So I took Laguna Alcohol Ink and made it as wispy as I could using lots of Alcohol Blending Solution. I also used Pinata Brass Alcohol Ink for an extra shimmery touch. Once I had a usable area, I set it aside to dry.

Next, I cut a piece of 4.125″ x 5.375″ white cardstock. I ink blended this using Milled Lavender, Wilted Violet, Dusty Concord and Black Soot using my blending brushes (starting from the center and moving outward). I spritzed this layer with water and Fun Stampers Journey Sparkle Silk. Then, I used a Lawn Fawn Outside-In Stitched Circle die to make my window.

After I die cut my window, I took the Moon & Stars stencil by Kindred Stamps, laid it on top of my purple layer, and applied a layer of Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel in Gold by Therm O Web. I removed my stencil and set this layer aside to dry as well.

I came back to my project a little while later and everything had dried. I took a piece of A2-sized black cardstock and adhered my circle cut out later on top of it. I then used the circle cut out area of the purple panel as a guide for where to place the die cut so I cut the same Lawn Fawn Stitched Inside-Out Circle Die Cut through my black cardstock layer.

I adhered a piece of acetate to the back of my black cardstock for my shaker. I also heat embossed the sentiment “I see an amazing birthday in your future” in white powder onto the scrap circle die cut of the purple background. I cut this into a banner and framed it in black.

Using foam tape, I adhered my professor behind my sentiment, adhering both as 1-unit to my card. I also added a few sequin embellishments from the Kindred Stamps Owl Post Shaker Pack (retired).

I flipped my shaker window panel over and added a double layer of foam tape around the circle shaker window. I placed Celestial Shimmerz bits into the window. I also added some other strips of foam tape for extra stability around the card and set it aside.

Finally, I took an A2-sized card base and adhered my alcohol ink panel onto it so it would show through the shaker window. I removed the backing of the foam tape on my shaker window panel and carefully adhered it to the card base. And I was done!

I had so fun participating in this hop, but the fun doesn’t stop here! Be sure to search #CASEthefellowcreator to find even more amazing CASE-ing projects and blogs!

Thanks for stopping by, and happy crafting!!

Justin
