Hello Everyone! I am super excited to be sharing another project that is a part of the Crafty Christmas Club Blog Hop!

Today I am sharing a project that has been on my mind for a while, so I am ecstatic that I was finally able to transfer my thought out onto paper and make this Rudolph-inspired light up card!
For my Rudolph, I used the Caffeinated- Reindeer set from The Rabbit Hole Designs, colored him up with Copic Markers and then fussy cut him out.
Next, I took a 4.125″ x 5.375″ piece of white cardstock and used the Light Me Up stencil from The Rabbit Hole Designs to blend a Christmas Light Background. I used Mowed Lawn and Barn Door Distress Oxide Inks for the lights and Black Soot Distress Oxide Inks for the strand. After I blended my light strands, I splattered Fun Stampers Journey Sparkle silk onto my panel. Once dry, I adhered it to an A2-sized piece of red cardstock so I had a nice thin red frame around my Christmas Light panel.
Next was time to build my circuit. In order to figure out where to place my light, I punch a very small hole into the nose of my reindeer (1/8″ punch). I then placed my Rudolph where I wanted to adhere him. I made a small mark where I needed to pierce a hole through my panels. Once I made my mark, I took a paper piercer and made a small hole in my panel that was just the right size for my light. I also took a scrap piece of vellum, colored it with my R35 Copic Marker, and adhered it to the backside of the hole.
When building my circuit, I built it directly onto my A2 card base. I used a Pear Blossom Press Power Pack for my battery unit, a Chibitronics White Light for the light, and Maker Tape to run the circuit. What I love about the Power Pack is that it holds the battery in place and also gives you a little button so you know EXACTLY where you need to press for your card to light up!
I used a lot of foam tape on my card base to help prop my card up without interfering with the circuit at all. Once my Christmas Light panel was adhered with foam tape to my card base, I adhered my Rudolph into place. I also strategically adhered so various flat backed gems from the 2019 Kindred Stamps Advent Calendar. I put a large red gem over the switch so people could figure out where to press down (or I could simply write in the card “press the big red gem for a surprise”).
I adhered my fun and sassy sentiment “dashing through the no” to my card, and I was finished!
And of course I wasn’t going to end this blog without showing a picture of my card lit up!
