1 Set, 4 Different Styles: Maximize Your Stamp Sets!

Hey Kindred Stampers!

Justin here, and I am really excited to share with you some projects that I made using the Kindred Stamps The One With The Friend set!

When I decided to create with this set, I was initially a little confused with what I wanted to do because there were so many characters and sentiments. And then I took my confusion and turned it into what I wanted to focus on: how you can use 1 stamp set to create multiple projects with different styles. So follow along with me while I talk about how I made each of my cards!

As always, I colored the 6 characters from The One With The Friend with my Copic Markers first and figured out which characters I wanted with what sentiments. First, I decided to create a card with the guitar playing girl.

Now, this girl is wearing a fringe jacket, and I knew that I needed to take this card in a hippy/earth child direction.

I have a little crafting hack for you. I love to use multiple paper patterns when crafting. I love matching various patterns together, regardless of brand. However, sometimes I don’t want rummage through my paper stash. What I like to do is buy small 6 x 6 paper pads that follow a certain theme, and I know I can grab a few handful of patterns from the pad that will coordinate for a project. So, for this guitar girl, I grabbed an earthy floral paper pack and I was set.

This card is made of entirely die cuts and hand cut paper strips. So I die cut 2 stitched panels, with one slightly smaller than the other to create a frame using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables Die and the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangle Die. I then cut my patterned papers the same width as the smallest panel, and used various wavy stitched dies to have wavy strips. I then adhered the wavy strips, one on top of the other, starting from the top down. I also die cut a few stitched scalloped circles using the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Scalloped Circles Stackables Dies and adhered them near where I was going place the girl using my Thermoweb Tape Runner XL.

To finish my card, I cut a sentiment strip and heat embossed the sentiment “It’s Not Your Fault” in a dark brown powder, adhered it with foam tape, and then adhered my girl. I mounted the panel to an A2 Card base and this card was done!

For my 2nd card, I wanted to do something a little masculine, and I decided to do so in the form of my shaker card with the penguin-holding guy.

I grabbed another paper pack that had various patterns in reds, yellow, blues and grays. I took 3 patterns and die cut them with a slightly smaller than A2-sized stitched rectangle die, along with a white panel in that same slightly smaller than A2 size using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables Die and the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangle Die. I also used an A2-sized stitched rectangle die and cut out a navy A2-sized panel that would serve as my base.

I cut my patterned paper in various 1″, .5″ and .25″ width strips. I then adhered the strips to my white slightly smaller sized white panel with my Thermoweb Tape Runner XL. Once the panel was entirely covered in strips, I used a stitched circle die to make my shaker cut out. I adhered an acetate window to cover the cut out.

For shakers, I have a few tricks that help make it easier. For starters, I need at least 1/8″ thick foam tape. If my foam tape is less than 1/8″, I’ll double it up. I also use a powder tool around the foam tape to reduce stickiness. Finally, I adhere a separate background to seal the shaker than the base panel. This allows me to reduce the likelihood of spilling my shaker bits. So I followed these tricks, using a retired Kindred Stamps Shaker Pack (you may still find some Kindred Stamps Shaker Packs here), and sealed everything up. I then mounted my shaker window to my A2 stitched navy panel.

To finish this card, I cut out a sentiment strip and heat embossed the  “How You Doin?” sentiment in white powder, adhered my sentiment strip, and then adhered my guy. Then, of course, I mounted it to my card base.

For my 3rd project, I thought it would be fun to use the vest wearing guy and the chef girl to make an engagement card. I went and grabbed another paper pack to get coordinating patterns.

I die cut the following shapes: an A2-sized stitched rectangle in charcoal, a “slightly less than A2”-sized stitched rectangle in black, gray patterned paper, and blue chevron paper using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables Die and the Lawn Fawn Outside In Stitched Rectangle Die. Finally, I took the gray patterned paper and die cut a city scape. I took my die cut city scape and used Black Soot Distress Oxide ink to shade the bottom and sides.

I then cut my black panel to be about 1.5″ wide. I adhered the blue chevron panel to the charcoal panel first using my Thermoweb Tape Runner XL, then the black strip and finally the cityscape on top of the black strip. I adhered my guy and girl, and then stamped the sentiment “The One Where You Get Engaged”.

For my last card, I wanted to use the last 2 characters, the coffee-serving girl and the suit-wearing guy, and make a general celebration card. I used the Birthday Confetti Stencil on a 4″ x 5.25″ white panel, adhering it with Pixie Spray, and I used a red, orange, yellow, green and blue inks by Catherine Pooler to blend a rainbow confetti background.

I mounted my confetti panel to an A2-sized black cardstock panel. I laid out where i wanted my 2 characters. Once I figured out how I wanted to place them, I stamped my “The One Where You Celebrate” sentiment in black. I adhered my guy and girl to the card using my Thermoweb Tape Runner XL, and then used various colored Nuvo Crystal Drops for extra confetti bits.

And there you have it, 4 cards in 4 styles for 4 different occasions, but all with 1 stamp set!

These projects are also being featured on the Kindred Stamps Blog too, so be sure to head over there and give them some love!

    1. Omg thank you! I am so sorry for my late response. I don’t have a shop set up (yet), but yes, I do offer to sell my cards as long as they are still available! I also can create custom projects too 😊 thanks for the follow!! I really appreciate you following me across multiple platforms!

        1. I will definitely look into it more! Just gotta find the right route to do it. May I ask which route you’re going with a shop? Is it on your blog or through a website like Etsy?
